It’s undeniable that music has tremendous power. Hearing a tune from your youth can transform you instantly to key moments in your life – both good and bad.
Music can also motivate, uplift, and inspire. It can sooth the anxious mind, stir up energy from within, and at the very least, remind you that you’re not alone in your struggles.
When I need a boost, this is my top 10 playlist:
1) Sia: Angel By The Wings
The song starts off mournful until the sound crescendos into an uplifting chorus that you just can’t help but belt out at the top of your lungs. You CAN do anything!
2) Sia: Never Give Up
Another one by Sia (a lot of her songs are inspirational). When I feel frustrated, or defeated, I listen to this song and pick myself back up to try again.
3) Bon Jovi: It’s My Life
A classic, and an anthem for why you shouldn’t put off your dreams. You’re not going to live forever, so live while you’re alive!
4) Avicii: The Nights
Here’s another one that reminds you to live your life so that you won’t have regrets when you’re older.
5) Aurora: Running With The Wolves
There is something magical about Norwegian singer Aurora. Her music has a way of stirring melancholia and uplifting you at the same time. If you’ve never heard of her, just listen to her music (or an interview with her) and you’ll see what I mean.
6) Rachel Platten: Fight Song
If you need a fight song to get you back on your feet, give this a listen.
7) Katy Perry: Rise
I found this song by Katy Perry just today, and had to include it on this list. The epic sound and motivational lyrics pair wonderfully to lift you out of a funk and push you toward action in your own life.
8) Kai Tracid: Life Is Too Short
A classic EDM trance track from 2002, this song reminds you that life is too short. Don’t spend all your time stressing, go out and play. This song also stirs up some nostalgia from my clubbing days oh so long ago. 😉
9) Florence & The Machine: Shake It Out
This song is a great one to listen to when you need to refocus and let go.
10) American Authors: Best Day Of My Life
We used this song in a personal montage video that reflected the first year of my son’s life, so I always think of him when I hear it. And it’s a happy, uplifting song full of optimism and joy.
