New Moon In Scorpio

New Moon in Scorpio

Date: November 13, 2023

At the time of year when the temperatures drop, the trees are bare, and the snow begins to fly, the New Moon in Scorpio signals a time to reflect on the death and rebirth cycle.

This is the new moon that occurs near Samhain – a festival for reflecting on ancestors and remembering the dead.

Many cultures do not recognize death as the end. Even in my own naturalistic spirituality, I can allow myself to align with this.

Every living thing will die, their elements will break down and rearrange, and be used to further life on our planet.

Death and decay fertilize the next generation.

The New Moon in Scorpio is a time for healing, and to allow ourselves the space to be reborn.

Let go of past regrets.

Forgive past hurts.

Turn your focus away from the future and on the present moment.

Carve out a little space for self-care, and then allow yourself to be reborn.

New moons are a time to set intentions, and commit to new beginnings – fresh starts.

Take some time to reflect on where in life you need to heal so that you can make a fresh start.

New Moon In Scorpio Rituals

Here are a few rituals that you can do under the Scorpio New Moon:

1) Scorpio New Moon Tarot

The tarot card associated with Scorpio is the Death (XIII) card.

While it is often one of the most dreaded cards in the tarot, it has nothing to do with your death, or the death of a loved one.

Instead, the Death card often portends a much needed, and liberating, change in your life.

The Death card is a card of endings, sure, but it also is a card of freedom.

Sometimes, we cling to things that we should release. We either wake up and let them go, or they are taken away from us. In either case, endings are painful.

But with every ending comes new opportunities, and a fresh start.

For a simple New Moon in Scorpio tarot spread, place the Death card down in front of you, then pull two random cards from the deck. Place one to the right of the Death card and the other to the left.

The one on the left of the Death card is the focus or energy that will support your new moon intention. The card on the right represents the action you need to take so set a new beginning in motion.

2) Water Rituals

Scorpio is a water sign, so working with the element of water is a great way to connect with the lunar energies when the moon transits Scorpio.

Take a bath, or a ritual shower, and allow water to cleanse away the old so that you can welcome the new.

You can also make a tea using rosemary, vanilla, or mugwort to work with the element of water, as well as the herbs that correspond with Scorpio.
