Full Moon In Gemini

Full Moon in Gemini

Date: November 27, 2023

For those who use moon cycles in spiritual or self-growth work, the Full Moon is a time to celebrate how far you’ve come, and to prepare to release what no longer serves you.

I also like to use the light of the full moon to gain clarity in my life.

The astrological sign of Gemini is associated with communication, and is often depicted as twins.

Communication isn’t just about how we relate to others, however.  The way we communicate with ourselves is equally important.

During this year-end full moon in Gemini, I will reflect on how I communicate with myself:

  • What are the narratives that I tell myself about my past and how it relates to my present (and future?)
  • What dialogue do I have with myself when I look at my face in the mirror?

I will focus on how my conscious mind communicates with my subconscious:

  • Do I truly believe in the outcomes I work toward?
  • Do I expect bad things to happen, or do I expect great things?  Why?
  • What do I spend most of my time thinking about?  How does my current reality match my inner thoughts?

I will focus on how I communicate with my higher self – and how I listen:

  • Do I spend 10-15 minutes each day to sit in silence and just listen to myself?
  • Do I trust myself for inner-guidance?  Or am I always seeking outside opinions…or answers?
  • Do I actively ignore my higher self because I am afraid to listen?

Take a journal or notebook and answer these questions over the next few days under the light of the full moon.

Full Moon In Gemini Correspondences

Element: Air (Gemini is an air sign.)

Season: Late Autumn/Early Winter (The Gemini Full Moon occurs just before the Winter Solstice, and signals the fulfillment of the intentions you set during the New Moon in Gemini, which occurs just before the Summer Solstice, typically).

Candle Color: Blue, white, orange, yellow.

Crystals/Stones: Both rainbow moonstone and satin spar/selenite are good stones to work with during a full moon.

Additionally, consider working with moss agate, topaz, tourmaline, diamond, and clear quartz.

A couple good stones to work with this week are blue calcite and blue lace agate.

Both of these stones are aligned with the throat chakra (for communication). As you hold these stones, reflect on the questions I asked above in this article and write down your responses.

Rose quartz is a great stone to work with if you uncover a lot of negative self-talk this week.

Herbs/Tea: Mint, lavender, dill, parsley, licorice root.

Calendula is a wonderful herb to work with to shift your inner dialogue with yourself, and to harmonize your communication.  Drink calendula in a tea (I visit a local tea shop that has a wonderful blend using calendula).

If you don’t have access to calendula this week, incorporate rosemary to facilitate clarity, and mint to awaken your senses so you can be aware of how you communicate with the most important person in the world – yourself!

Essential Oils/Incense: Diffuse mint or lavender essential oils this week to help connect to your true self and facilitate better communication with self.

Sandalwood and jasmine are also good scents to use under the Gemini full moon.

Animal: Not specified.

Other Earth Magickal Items: Twin or pairs of natural objects (a pair of deer antlers, or matching stones, for example).

Full Moon In Gemini Rituals

Here are a few rituals that you can do under the Gemini Full Moon:

1) Gemini Full Moon Tarot

The tarot card associated with Gemini is The Lovers (VI) card.

While The Lovers is often associated with romantic love, it can also represent communication between two people (friends, partner, co-worker, parent and child).

It can even represent a need to balance our masculine and feminine energy.

Relating to the Full Moon in Gemini, The Lover’s card can indicate a need to listen to both our heart and our head in regards to a situation or direction in our life.

If you work with the tarot, pull The Lovers card from your favorite deck and spend some time journaling about what you need to release in your life.

What negative or toxic communication do you need to put an end to?

What negative thoughts or self-talk do you need to be more conscious of so that you can shift it toward more positive self-belief and self-love?

Here is a simple Release/Receive tarot spread that you can do under the Full Moon in Gemini:

2) Activating Your Throat Chakra

Gemini is associated with the throat chakra, which rules communication – your voice.

In my own personal path, I don’t necessarily believe in the actual existence of chakras, but I do find the concept useful for meditation and mindfulness practice.

Becoming more aware of your words, and how your words affect your inner world (thoughts/emotions) and outer world (relationships/circumstances) through working with your throat chakra is a powerful practice.

3) Full Moon Journaling

I write in my journal every day, but I always spend a little extra time journaling under the light of Full Moons.

The Full Moon in Gemini is a good time to communicate with yourself, and your subconscious. Be sure to journal on the questions I asked earlier in this article.

My Garden At The Full Moon In Gemini

My garden has been put to bed by the Gemini Full Moon, though during a warmer-than-usual November, I may have a few straggling rudbeckia or asters that have survived the first light frosts.

My veggie garden still has some mint, arugula, mustard greens, kale, and chard hanging on though the end of November.

Finches have an astrological association with Gemini, and I often see them picking the last remaining seeds from what was once my purple coneflowers.
