The darkness of the night sky at the New Moon in Pisces signals us to reflect inward toward our hopes and dreams – our desires and passions.
This is a time to begin the process of manifestation.
What do you want to receive into your life during the coming moon cycle?
Perhaps there is something you want to start again – to re-commit to.
Take time this weekend to get crystal clear on what you want to manifest in your life. (Journaling is a great exercise for that!)
The sign of Pisces is associated with creativity, passion, reflection, emotions, and empathy.
A Pisces New Moon is the perfect time to set intentions for manifesting success or recognition in creative pursuits, or pursuing a long-neglected passion in your life.
It’s also a great time to balance emotions. While it is uncomfortable, explore your dark side – the things you keep hidden from others.
It’s time to work toward accepting yourself as you are, with love and less judgement.
For many of us, it’s easier to have empathy for others, but not for ourselves. It’s time we practice inward-directed empathy.
New Moon In Pisces Correspondences
Element: Water. Pisces is a water sign, so incorporate the element of water into your New Moon rituals.
You can do this by using a water-themed oracle deck (I use the Saltwater Reading Cards by Laura Bowen), and carry “watery” crystals (see below) while the moon passes through Pisces.
Season: Late Winter (The Pisces New Moon occurs while the sun is also in the sign of Pisces – February 19 to March 20, typically).
Candle Color: Blue, purple, violet, white, gray.
Crystals/Stones: Black moonstone (a good stone to work with during the new moon), amethyst, aquamarine, amazonite, blue aragonite, pearl.
Herbs/Tea: Mint, sage, chamomile, lavender.
Essential Oils/Incense: Lavender, chamomile.
Garden: Nothing is growing in my snow-covered garden at the time of the Pisces new moon, but by now, I have started seeds indoors and their tiny seedling leaves are just emerging under my grow lights.
During the Pisces Full Moon (late August to mid-September), my garden is just past peak. I will use herbs I’ve harvested during the Pisces full moon during my new moon rituals.
Working with last year’s dried herbs while focusing on the year to come helps me draw upon past experience and wisdom while also exploring new ideas and approaches.
Animal: Dolphin, shark and other fish.
Other Earth Magick Items: Other items I might work with during New Moon in Pisces rituals include sea shells, coral, or other aquatic finds.
New Moon In Pisces Rituals
Here are some simple rituals that you can do under the Pisces New Moon:
1) Tarot Under A Piscean New Moon
If you work with tarot, pull The Moon (XVIII) from your favorite deck and place it in front of you. Spend some time reflecting or journaling on how the archetype of The Moon is playing a role in your life right now.
The Moon card represents intuition, fear, self-deceit, and illusion.
For a simple New Moon in Pisces tarot spread pull out all of the cards that feature water in the images (Two of Pentacles, Temperance, etc…). Then shuffle just the water cards and pull a random card.
Spend some time reflecting on how the water in the image plays a roll in the card meaning – and what lesson that card may have for you at this time.
How does it relate to The Moon card?
2) Honor The Element Of Water
Keep a small cup or bowl of water on your altar, and be mindful as you drink your first glass of water in the morning.
3) Take A Ritual Bath
The best water-related self-care activity to do this weekend under a Pisces New Moon is to soak in a tub and allow the water to cleanse and refresh you.
